Emma is
best known for her appearances in the highly
successful BBC 1 programme, Vets in
Practice. She appeared in all eleven
series. Emma
qualified as a veterinary surgeon from
Bristol University in 1996 and went on to
work in a mixed, country practice in
Somerset, before moving to Cheltenham where
she stayed for 7 years before moving to York
where she now resides. Vets
in Practice
won the coveted "Best Documentary Award" at
the National Television Awards in 1999,
which Emma accepted on behalf of the team.
Other television appearances have included
presenting a veterinary roadshow on the BBC
1 programme The Really Useful Show,
This Morning, Light Lunch, Sub Zero,
Through the Keyhole, Celebrity Bargain Hunt,
Style Street and BBC1 children’s
programme Xchange where she took
calls from children with their pet problems.
She has also appeared on Lunch Time live
where she debated the relative values of
homeopathy and alternative treatments in
veterinary medicine. Emma
presented Holiday on a Shoestring for
BBC1, in which she went on holiday to
Scotland with her two dogs and has also co-
presented Heart Of The Country Goes Wild
for ITV; two series dedicated to British
wildlife.
She
was on the panel on BBC Television’s
Question Time-fox hunting special –
where she aired her views on banning the
sport. Following the vote in the House of
Commons, Emma also appeared on GMTV
to discuss the issue and then the
Jonathan Dimbleby programme.
Having written articles for BBCs Girl talk
magazine for several years Emma has been
writing for Dogs Today magazine for the last
five years and for Yours magazine for the
last three years.
Over
the years Emma has been asked to contribute
to numerous newspaper and radio interviews
and pieces and is well known for her strong
views on animal matters and her willingness
to voice these opinions. She has also spoken
at numerous events and conferences.Emma’s first book, The Truth About Cats
and Dogs was published in July 2007 and
highlights not only the realities of
veterinary work but the inherent and
increasing health problems with pedigree
dogs and cats.
Emma
now lives near York and, besides continuing
her veterinary work and her articles,
appears as a guest reporter on the BBC
programme Inside Out tackling controversial
animal- related stories and other topics of
a more light- hearted nature.
